“What do you do for a workout, Jess?” - This is a question I get asked frequently and I love answering it because it always varies. I am going to provide you a sneak peek into what my workouts look like for a random week, but before I do, remember that everyone is different. There is no one workout or routine that fits all, however, I am a big believer on keeping your workouts mixed. Here’s why:
I was that person who would come to the gym, hop on the treadmill with my earbuds on and run. Maybe a little stretch and some crunches after, but that was it. I did the same thing repeatedly, 4-6 days per week. My body changed in the beginning, but then there was no progress. I had plateaued. I neglected any lateral or rotational movements, strength training, flexibility, stability and all the other components of being fit, and most importantly, I never rested. I may have looked in shape, but I was far from it and exhausted. Fast forward a few years with some major changes to my routine and I’ve finally found what works for me, variety.
