Seriously, when you see the word "bacon" on any menu -whether it's wrapped with, stuffed with, topped with or even infused with bacon- you order it without hesitation.
Bacon is the best, aside from doughnuts. Which is why I married the two and created these savory Maple Bacon Doughnuts!
These doughnuts are both topped with and infused with bacon flavor, and I figured out how to make these grain-free and dairy free too.
Listen carefully though...
A doughnut is still a doughnut. While this might be baked and not fried, sweetened with maple syrup instead of white sugar, coconut oil instead of butter and almond meal instead of white flour- it's still a doughnut. This should be a treat (a freaking delicious treat) to indulge in. Luckily, however, it's a treat that won't hurt your belly or hinder your healthy habits.
So enjoy happy fit bellies, but doughnut overdo it -see what I did there. ; )
