happiness is homemade.
I will never run out of a jar of almond butter.
This jar of fat is always stocked in my pantry. In fact, I keep two jars, and when one runs out I buy another. It's a problem that I will never be ashamed of and here's why:
My number one go to snack is anything covered in almond butter. It's creamy, delicious, nutty flavor is warming, and the healthy fat content is a perfect way to nip my cravings among other benefits.
Fat is not the "F" word.
I used to cut fat out of my diet and learned quickly that it was a big mistake. Restless nights, lack of energy, mood swings and endless cravings were a few of the warning signs. So, if you've been cutting fat out of your diet, trust me and stop now! Fat is essential and something you should consume regularly with every meal. It's a satisfying macro-nutrient that helps absorb other nutrients in your body, including protein, antioxidants and vitamins. Dietary fat also helps fight inflammation, premature aging and numerous diseases. BUT...
Not all fats are created equal.
There is a big difference between the fat in a tub of margarine and the fat in a jar of almond butter. To help sift the good from evil, stick to adding monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats to your diet like those found in avocados, nuts, olives and seeds. Some fish like salmon, tuna and sardines contain your omega 3 chain fatty acids, which help maintain a healthy cholesterol level. Lastly, adding some plant based oils (your medium chain fatty acids) like coconut, olive, avocado, sesame or flax seed oil can help with a number of functions like digestion, hormone balance and brain function.
If I haven't convinced you to eat more fat yet, then this easy 3 minute recipe below will.
Enjoy the F** my happy bellies!
